Brake Line Retainers
Saturday, July 21, 2007, 03:06 AM - Tinkering
Friday night I got back from a week-long business trip in Orlando, Florida. The trip and last few weeks away from the Jeep built up my "gumption" again and it was time to dive in and do a little fixing to get TC back on the road.

With the lift, the Jeep needs extended length, stainless steel braided brake lines and the left front line needed replacing. So that's what I did this morning. It seems to have gone fine. I tried out the Mity-Vac brake bleeder which seemed to work well (more on this sometime in the future). Once I'm done charging the battery I'll start the motor and test some more, then go around the block.

Those of you with extended brake lines on your Jeeps may find this useful. To keep the brake lines from hitting the tires or anything else, but also allow them to extend to full length when the axles articulate off-road, I used an extension spring held to the shock by a large clear/white zip tie, and to the brake line using a small yellow zip tie (the braided line is covered by black shrink wrap tubing where the spring is attached to protect it from wear). It holds the brake line inboard but readily stretches out.
